Samit Patel: Don’t Wait For Perfect

What was a major challenge you had to overcome to get to where you are today?

During one of my early business endeavors, one of my business partners kicked me out of the company as soon as it began to grow. Later on, he tried to sue me. I was pretty naive at the time and didn’t worry about signing contracts, trusting that everything would work out on its own. Now I’m very conscious of not just doing whatever draws my attention, but focusing on the small details that can make or break a business. Not a fun lesson to learn, but an immensely valuable one.

What are some sacrifices you’ve made to get to where you are?

My friends had traditional corporate jobs after college, while I decided to go out on my own. I missed out on group holidays and drinks on Friday nights. I couldn’t do what everyone else was doing — that’s part of going your own way. It was hard, but that decision is what led me here today.

What motto do you live by?

Just do it. You can’t wait for things to be perfect because they never will be. You’re better off diving in and making something happen than sitting around and thinking about it.
