Apple releases the App Store Award winners, along with the top games and apps for 2023.

The 2023 App Store Awards winners were revealed by Apple today, and 14 games and apps that encouraged people to explore their creativity, find new adventures, and enjoy themselves with friends and family were honored. The App Store’s editorial team selected the winners this year, which include developers from all over the world, based on their ability to create games and apps that offer users meaningful experiences and encourage cultural change. From a pool of almost 40 finalists, winners of the App Store Awards were chosen for their outstanding technical innovation, user experience, and design. 

Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, said, “It’s inspiring to see the ways developers continue to build incredible apps and games that are redefining the world around us.

“The winners this year demonstrate the breadth of artistic expression, technological ingenuity, and design potential found throughout Apple’s ecosystem and the App Store. AllTrails fosters community by providing thorough trail guides and opportunities for outdoor exploration to all users. Prêt-à-Makeup promotes inclusivity and individual expression while providing professional artists and non-professional users with an iPad makeup sketchpad that is accurate to life. The machine learning-powered tools in Photomator streamline and simplify complex editing tasks. With a human touch, MUBI selects great independent films, and SmartGym excels on Apple Watch with a vast exercise library, routines, and robust fitness reporting.

In the gaming genre, Lost in Play allows players to access their charming, childlike imagination during an epic point-and-click adventure, while Honkai: Star Rail immerses players in a story full of nuanced characters and tactically rich combat on the iPhone. The beautifully designed dark fantasy world of Lies of P and the immersive gaming world of Apple Arcade’s Hello Kitty Island Adventure both offer players the sweetest possible objective: making friends.
