Ted Danson is a celebrity who has gained popularity as an actor as well as a producer. Presently, being one of the popular TV stars of Hollywood, the actor has been a nominee for 11 Emmy and 9 Golden Globe nominations in the category of Bes Actor in TV series, among which he has won two each. Danson has been in the industry since 1975. Though he debuted in the TV show “Somerset” in 1975, he gained attention after his lead role as Sam Malone on the NBC sitcom “Cheers” in 1982, which ran until 1993. His further notable films include, “Three Men and a Baby”, “Three Men and a Little Lady”, “Body Heat”, and “Made in America”, among many others.

Ted Danson was born on December 29, 1947, upon the name Edward Bridge Danson II, in San Diego, California, US. Born to the parents Edward Bridge Danson Jr., and Jess Danson, he holds an American nationality. Danson grew up in Flagstaff city in Arizona. For education, he first attended Kent School, then to the Stanford University, and Carnegie Mellon University. Finally, he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts in 1972 from Carnegie Mellon University.

About his personal life, Ted is a married thrice. Firstly, he married actress Randy Danson in 1970 and then divorced with her in 1975. He secondly married Casey Coates in 1977 and divorced after 16 years of marriage in 1993, as Danson had an extramarital affair with an actress as well as TV host, and author, Whoopi Goldberg. However, Danson and Coates had a daughter together, born in 1979, named Kate Danson. Also, they had adopted a daughter, Alexis Danson. Later, in 1995, he married an actress Mary Steenburgen, who was an Oscar winner. Ted is also a stepfather to Mary’s children from a previous marriage.

Career Highlights

Ted Danson started his career from the daytime soap opera “Somerset” in 1975, as a role of villain. Then, he played in the series “The Doctors” as a doctor. Likewise, he appeared in several TV shows like “The Amazing Spider-Man”, “Trapper John M.D.”, and “The French Atlantic Affair” in the late 1970s. Moreover, in 1979, he got a chance for the film “The Onion Field”. Then, he started appearing on big screens as well.

In 1982, he appeared as the role of Sam Malone in the TV series “Cheers” which became a big breakthrough for him. He appeared in 275 episodes of the series until 1983. Gaining massive popularity from the TV shows, he also put his hand in the successful films like “Three Men and a Baby” and its sequel “Three Men and a Little Lady”, and “Cousins”. Also, in“Just Between Friends”, “Getting Even With Dad”, “Creepshow”, and “Made in America” including many others.

Likewise, he also went on with the TV show. He has appeared in the “Curb Your Enthusiasm” since 2000 and is still running the show. Also, he is playing the role of Michael in “The Good Place” since 2016. Since 2018, he is also appearing in the TV show “Advancements”.
