The 2022 Victorian edition of Falls Festival will take place in downtown Melbourne

Following the cancellation of the Birregurra location, Falls Festival will now welcome Arctic Monkeys, Lil Nas X, Peggy Gou, CHVRCHES, Jamie xx, and more to inner-city Melbourne.

This year, Falls Festival, arguably the largest Australian New Year’s Eve festival, changed the location of its Victorian version and announced the change barely three months before the event.

Falls’ VIC festival will move to Melbourne for the first time after confirming Pennyroyal Plains in Murroon, which is close to Birregurra, as its new location back in July. The event will still be held at Sidney Myer Music Bowl on December 29, 30, and 31, but will now be known as Falls Downtown Melbourne.

While Colac Shire Otway Council approved the planning permit on June 30 for Falls VIC to be held at a new location in Birregurra, with support from council, the local MP, and the larger community, the festival revealed that a small group of locals had applied to the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) to appeal this decision, with a hearing date set for February or March 2023, after the event was supposed to take place.

Jessica Ducrou, a co-producer of Falls, expressed her gratitude for everyone’s support, including the venue, the musicians, and especially the audience members. We are ecstatic that the performance will go on at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl to usher in the new year in Melbourne’s Central Business District! ”

Falls Downtown Melbourne will provide the complete lineup of performers already revealed, spread across two stages in an urban environment, with all the convenience that entails in addition to Club Falls, Rancho Relaxo, numerous bars and food trucks, and much more! As we rediscover the delight of marking this milestone together, ring in the New Year of 2023 with your crew.
