Indian auto fans are in for a treat in early April 2024 as both Skoda and Toyota get ready to introduce their newest models.
Skoda Superb
The Superb, which goes on sale on April 3, 2024, is anticipated to cost approximately Rs 55 lakh and will be imported as a Completely Built Unit (CBU). Skoda intends to begin the sedan’s construction later, which could result in a lower price.
There will just be one top-spec “L&K” model of the Superb available. Expect high-end features like a digital instrument cluster, a Columbus infotainment system, a Canton sound system with 11 speakers, ventilated and massaging 12-way adjustable front seats, wireless charging, 3-zone air conditioning, adaptive Adaptive Auto LED headlamps, LED fog lamps with cornering function, and 17-inch Stratos alloys. Nine airbags, dynamic chassis control, TPMS (tyre pressure monitoring system), parking assistance and emergency braking assistance are among the safety features.
The 2024 Superb’s 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine, which produces 188 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque, is paired to a 7-speed DSG for a powerful and smooth driving experience. There are other engine options available for the Superb abroad, but as of right now, just one engine option is confirmed for India.
The Superb will be available in three colours: Magic Black, Water World Green, and Rosso Brunello, according to recent reports. Rivalling the Toyota Camry, that is. EV sedans like the BYD Seal EV and SUVs like the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, Hyundai Tucson, Volkswagen Tiguan, Toyota Hilux, and MG Gloster are some of the other contenders in terms of pricing. It is anticipated that the Superb’s comeback will boost the premium sedan market in India. In addition to launching the Superb, Skoda intends to reintroduce the Octavia in India.
Taisor Toyota Urban Cruiser
Under the Maruti-Toyota alliance, Toyota will introduce the Taisor, which is based on the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, on April 3. Like previous cars, the Taisor will have some minor visual modifications, but other than that, it will be identical to the Fronx.
reworked alloy wheels, updated headlamps with a new LED daytime running lamp, updated taillamps, and a reworked bumper are anticipated exterior improvements. Not much is anticipated for the interiors.
Modifications could include new materials and interior colour schemes. Features from the Fronx will also be available in the Taisor. This includes a 9-inch infotainment system, six airbags, a 360-degree camera, controls positioned on the steering wheel, and much more.
The engine options under the hood will be identical to those of the Fronx. This indicates that the 1.2-liter petrol engine, which generates 90 horsepower and 113 Nm of torque, would power the Taisor. It is unknown if the Taisor will be available with the Fronx’s 1.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine. A five-speed manual or five-speed automated manual gearbox (AMT) is coupled to the 1.2-liter engine.
In the sub-4 million SUV market, the Urban Cruiser Taisor will face off against well-established competitors like the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, and Mahindra XUV300.
